We've seen the launch trailer for Assassins Creed III and now we're all
psyched about the game. We know the project has had a lot of work done; it took
almost two years to reach this stage.
The story revolves around Connor and the time and place is set during
the American Revolution. Connor is the new hero in this game, being a bit
different from the previous two heroes, Altair and Ezio. He's born of an
English mother and an Indian father, his childhood is spent in a Mohawk tribe.
He'll explore all the sides of his cultural education and will experience his
first tragic moments during his childhood.
It isn't quite clear if Desmond is still a part of the action, or where
he's located. The fact is we cannot interpret a whole lot on this side since
the trailer only reveals the ancestor, Connor.
Following the tragic moments from his youth, Connor will seek justice
and revenge, and to ensure justice is done in the end. His path will most
likely intersect with the brotherhood of Assassins. Connor's arsenal consists
of two basic weapons: the bow and the tomahawk small axe. In accordance with
history it would be pretty cool to be able to scalp enemies in the game, but
the producers focused more on the story side of the game rather than historic
accuracy. The array of moves Connor can do has also improved, and the producers
lead us to believe that the hero will indeed be able to use both weapons
simultaneously. In fact, they stated that there will be over one thousand
different new moves and animations available to improve Connor's chances on the
battlefield. This means our hero will be more fluid during battle, and not have
awkward stopping moments after a kill which drains away the level of realism
the game provides.
Some famous characters our hero will encounter in his journey are George
Washington and even Benjamin Franklin. It will be interesting to see how these
famous people fit into the game's story. I'm guessing they will be on the good
side, like Leonardo da Vinci was in Assassins Creed II. The stunts in the game
are all redone to make a greater impression in the gamers mind. We will get to
see the new Animus 3.0 in action which has a complete new visual theme and
permits the character to travel more in his memory.
There was also talk about multiplayer possibilities, but details are not
yet known. We'll just have to wait until October 31st 2012 and see what sort of
impression we'll be left with.
